PDF FILES
For those who prefer to read from the printed page, rather than a computer screen (and it is demonstrably easier and less stressful to do so), Portable Document Format (PDF) files of James Curle's A Roman Frontier Post and its People are available. Unless you have access to the internet through broadband, these can be quite large and time-consuming to download. Therefore, as well as a single-file version with the complete book in one chunk, there are individual files for each chapter, making it easier to download in small chunks, as and when required. The advantage of the single-file version is that the whole text can be searched in one go: the printed index is by no means comprehensive and the reader who wishes to check that they have seen every reference to, for example, 'pit xxii', will be able most easily to do it from the single file version.
You will require Adobe's Acrobat Reader in order to view and print out the file, but you may well find you already have it installed, since so many computer program manuals now come supplied in that format.
