used to cut out the weaving combs. Of the shears, which were, of course, indispensable to the weaver, we have an example from the ditch of the early fort (Plate LXVIII., Fig. 5). It is unfortunately incomplete. It had measured 7¼ inches in length, and was shaped like the instrument still used for sheep shearing.
